About Sail AROK
Most people who take you sailing learned from a YouTube video. Zsolt Gomory learned by winning.
A 3-time Hungarian National Sailing Champion, Zsolt brings world-class expertise to Grand Lake and the lakes of Northwest Arkansas. But his goal isn't to impress you with his resume. It's to put the wheel and the sheet in your hands and make you feel what sailing actually is.
AROK Sailing School & Cruises offers private sailing instruction for beginners and experienced sailors alike, plus several cruise packages for up to four adults (plus kids) on Grand Lake. Whether you want to learn or just enjoy the ride, Zsolt makes sure you leave the dock with more than you brought to it.

Sailing Cruises on Grand Lake
Two hours or a full day, Grand Lake gives you something different every time.
Some days the wind runs hard and the boat heels into a fast reach. Other days it's a slow drift across glassy water while the sun drops behind the tree line. Exhilarating or peaceful. Either way, you're on the water, surrounded by ducks or pelicans, listening to nature, exactly where you're supposed to be.
AROK cruises carry up to four people. Captain Zsolt doesn't just pilot the boat; he puts you to work, if you want to get the full experience. Guests are part of the crew, handling lines and learning the boat as you go. It's just more fun that way.
2, 4, 5 and 6-hour cruises are available. The latter two can include sailing to a waterfront restaurant and enjoying a meal with a view. We'd be glad to email you all the details and options upon request.
Sailing Lessons
Whether you've never left the dock or you've been sailing for years, Zsolt meets you where you are.
AROK Sailing School & Cruises lessons are hands-on from the first minute. No long lectures on shore. You learn by doing, with a 3-time National Sailing Champion beside you, coaching in real time as the boat moves and the wind shifts. It's the fastest way to actually get it.
Lessons run 2, 3 or 4 hours and are available for individuals or groups of up to four. Beginners are welcome. Experienced sailors looking to sharpen their skills are equally at home. Kids too.
We teach on Grand Lake and on the lakes of Northwest Arkansas, so chances are there's a lesson within reach. Lessons are 1-on-1 on Beaver Lake (or a lake near you!) or for 2 or 3 people on Grand Lake.

FAQs
What should I wear and bring for the sailboat cruise?
We recommend wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Layers are a good idea, as temperatures can change on the water. Don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection. On Windchaser we also have a bimini installed for the summer to provide shade. Flat, closed-toed shoes with non-slip soles are essential for safety. Additionally, bring a camera or smartphone to capture the incredible sights, and if you're prone to motion sickness, consider taking a preventative remedy before boarding or bring arm bands. Finally, don't forget your water!
Is the cruise suitable for children and families?
Absolutely! Our cruises are designed to be family-friendly and enjoyable for all ages. We offer a range of experiences suitable for kids and adults alike. Our knowledgeable guides provide engaging and educational commentary that can captivate young minds, and our boats are equipped with water toys and safety features to ensure a secure and comfortable journey for everyone. Whether you're a family of nature enthusiasts or just looking for a fun day out, we welcome families aboard with open arms.
Can we sail to a restaurant?
Absolutely! Quarterdeck Lakeside Dining at Tera Miranda on Monkey Island is in sailable distance on our longer cruises. It's a family-friendly restaurant with a pool. Ask us for the details of a restaurant cruise!
Does your boat fit under Sailboat Bridge?
So far it has! :) It's always an exhilirating experience passing under the bridge on the north side of Grove!
Can you combine a sailing cruise with a lesson?
Absolutely! We tailor our cruises around you and your goals. Our adventures may include sailing instruction, they may involve some minor physical work (helping raise the mainsail, adjusting the sails, steering, helping with docking, etc), or may just be fun & relaxing where you sit back and enjoy the experience. It's up to you!

My first experience sailing with Zsolt Gomory of AROK Sailing School and Cruises was fantastic. It could not have been better. I’ve had some experience crewing on a sailboat, and my guests had no experience at all. Zsolt’s boat handling abilities were superb; he communicated instructions clearly and politely and monitored safety for everyone. This resulted in a very nice cruise with some introductory lessons for my guests. Everyone participated and had a great time. I don’t have a boat of my own right now, so I’ll budget for more cruises with Zsolt whenever I get the opportunity. It’s well worth the price, especially when compared to the cost of boat ownership. And there’s no better inland lake for sailing than Grand Lake of the Cherokees.
